Manhole Inspection

GeoTech Utility Locating LLC. offers the service of manhole or pull box inspections for electrical, communication, and data manholes.

This service is comprised of three processes:

1. Inspection of the vault
2. Data taking of the contents of the vault
3. Documentation Set for record keeping of the vault.

This data enables companies (ie. government, private, schools, hospitals, etc) to assess the state of the existing vaults, inventory of conduits and cables in those conduits. Thus assessing cost impacts of future growth and construction.

In cases where records have not been kept up since the original construction, when new construction arises, costs may be avoided by identifying empty conduits and spare cables that would otherwise not have been utilized. The GeoTech manhole inspection process will identify, among other things, how many available conduits are available for the future use, and to what other manholes they connect to.

The Inspection process includes:

1. Label each manhole/pull box with unique number
2. Visual inspection of the vault, noting conditions and extra items
3. Measure size of opening, depth, dimensions of walls, and shape of vault
4. Record complete set of digital pictures of inside of vault

The Data Taking process includes:

1. Record number and size of all conduits and banks on each wall of vault
2. Record location of each conduit or bank on each wall
3. Note all empty conduits and find where they are serving.
4. Record data for any other items going through vault (eg. pipes)

The Documentation process includes:

1. Generate a CAD butterfly drawing that documents the data taken
2. Generate a complete package of butterfly drawings and pictures for each manhole
